Because we in Anderson County are not faced with ice and snow on a regular basis, often many individuals find themselves ill prepared when faced with winter hazards. In our area, ice storms are more common than snow falls, and ice storms can cause down trees and power lines. Both snow and ice can cause major difficulties on roads and highways. Bridges are more likely to freeze before roadways, which can cause a serious driving hazard.

Winter weather watches and warnings from the national weather service should be taken seriously, and all families should have a battery operated weather radio.
